4 Short Weeks

As the Silk Green Caps site had such great feedback, and success for the client, The Integer Group and client launched this seasons new campaign: “4 Short Weeks to a Healthier Heart…” which was built on the same model as the Silk Green Caps site. One of the differences with this new campaign was delivering more around interactivity and education.

To accomplish this, we built an AWESOME logic scheme to accommodate approximately 300 different video responses from the three avatars representing on the home page. Check it out, you can drag and drop a variety of ‘Food’ or ‘Fitness’ items to your chosen friend, and they respond accordingly to their particular traits & to how much YOU help or abuse them! (Try feeding mike a hotdog over and over again)

Check this particle effect out - one of the best uses i’ve seen lately - and very pretty no matter what the content!

This sample was found at one of my new favorite resources for AS3 - www.flashandmath.com - it is maintained by two individuals who have done a beautiful job assembling a nice array of tutorials. Their code is the most detailed with comments i have seen. I’ve only recently stumbled into this site - but it’s already helped me out tremendously with figuring out some critical things. I highly recommend at least browsing the samples to see some beautiful code at work - even if you aren’t a developer/programmer yourself!

Recently working on a project with The Integer Group, we successfully launched this years Silk Soy Milk’s “Green Caps for Green Energy” website.

Silk Green Caps

The sites main feature is to allow users to register and enter their Silk Soy Milk UPC code to be entered into a sweepstakes for a ‘Green Home Makeover’ and other green prizes. The site also features several other pages full of fun information around the green lifestyle - check out the ‘Go Green’ page to use “green meter” and see how green you live/drive/work. Also check out the ‘Share Your Green Tips’ page to see community entries on living green - even enter your own tip to the “tips cloud”!

UPDATE! Site launched just over 2 weeks ago, and has already had over 100k successful registrants - out of a 200k goal by the end of the summer!!!

UPDATE:
Jack has been making many updates recently creating a whole variety of very nice tweening options! It’s not just TweenLite for me anymore - now all kinds of goodies! (TweenMax[Including: Orienting & tweening on a bezier curve!], TransformMatrixProxy, ColorTransformProxy, TweenFilterLite, and of course still good ol TweenLite)

As mentioned before - this is the most efficient animation class i found yet - very light code, and very easy to use. If you are doing any flash animation, try this option out! He has class options for both AS2 & AS3. Go check out his blog - and see examples of all the options!

I have been slowly but surely diving into AS3 lately. I have finally found a very nice & efficient tween engine at http://blog.greensock.com/tweenliteas3/. File Size added to published SWF: About 2Kb, now that’s efficient! Other huge benefits include nice documentation at site, and two very nice .fla files to demonstrate use!

And did i mention this package is open source, general public license (free to anyone). If you are planning on doing any animation in AS3, i highly recommend start with this tween engine!

This past year i have been researching and testing a variety of methods for building flash web venues that take into consideration SEO, deep-linking, and browser compatability. There have been several examples and solutions provided by the flash community over the past year around some of these problems - BUT - none of them were complete solutions for all the issues - only half baked. The only full solution i have found so far is called SWFAddress by Asual - and is used in combination with deconcept’s SWFObject script. Read the rest of this entry »
